Hats and Hands is a volunteer project that began in 1989 to alleviate the suffering of the homeless population during the cold winter months in the Las Vegas Valley.

Because the majority of clients served through this program are homeless, most living on the streets of Las Vegas, we appreciate items created with very dark colored yarn.  Black, Navy, Forest Green, Dark Grey, Dark Brown and Burgundy are preferred.  Dark colors do not show dirt as readily, and make it more difficult for those living on the streets to be spotted at night when they are trying to remain hidden.

Hats and Hands distributes hats, scarves, socks and gloves to the homeless throughout the Las Vegas Valley, many of which have been hand made by individuals and groups throughout our community. Our purpose is to prevent illness and injuries caused by exposure to the cold during the winter months.

We Need Your Help:

We are looking for additional persons to: knit, crochet, help with collections, deliver and distribute items, donate yarn or purchase items, teach others new skills for knitting or crocheting, etc...
