Preamble
1. This Strategic Direction defines the ongoing vision, mission and goals for UMSM.
2. This Strategic Direction directs the work of the United Methodist Social Ministries in Clark County, Nevada. It is the vehicle within this metropolitan area by which local United Methodist congregations are able to focus resources in order to do missions for those in need.
3. The Strategic Direction will be reviewed annually and adjusted in order to do missions for those in need.
4. The Executive Director of UMSM is responsible for implementing the Strategic Direction and works with the Board of Directors to ensure its realization.
Goals
· Build, develop, and strengthen relationships within our churches and community to improve collaborative efforts and communication.
o Increase feedback and resources (funding, volunteers, supplies/food, etc.) from Las Vegas cluster churches.
o Implement and maintain the first Clark County Department of Family Services satellite (foster care) visitation site.
o Work with DFS to increase the number of qualified foster care parents within Clark County.
o Establish visibility and presence through caring and concern.
· Operate three weekend emergency assistance sites within the next 12 months.
· Search for and secure funding that enables UMSM to realize its mission.
