Fostering in Faith

Overview/Information

Fostering in Faith began in response to the foster care crisis in Clark County.  Using the depth of knowledge available in the local churches, this group began to focus on recruitment of foster families and support groups, education of policy and law, and developing respite care opportunities and respite caregivers.  In addition, church members have aligned with local agencies and organizations to provide foster children with necessities as they process through the system.  In collaboration with the Clark County Department of Family Services, we are pleased to provide the DFS first designated satellite visitation site.

This program also partners with Potosi Pines Camp to provide opportunities for foster children to attend camp during summer and track break sessions.  The children are taught life skills, nature education, self respect, and community living at these special sessions.  Volunteers and professionals work to provide a safe and fun environment while allowing the foster caregivers a well deserved break.  As the children return to camp year after year, they develop a support system and a chance at leadership opportunities in their teen years.
